Root Beer Barrel Cookies

2/3 cup butter-flavor Crisco
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup root beer barrel candy, crushed
Yield: 3 dozen   

Heat oven to 350. Lightly grease baking sheets with Crisco. Beat butter-flavored Crisco with both sugars in a large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer. Beat in egg. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt . Blend into butter mixture by hand, adding crushed candy. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Bake for 11-15 minutes.

 

A standard Root beer extract recipe

MIX 4 GAL. WATER & 4 LBS. SUGAR UNTIL SUGAR IS DISSOLVED. 
PUT 1/2 TSP. YEAST IN 1PINT WARM WATER TO DISSOLVE. 
POUR IN WITH WATER & SUGAR. 
ADD CONTENTS OF 1 BOTTLE OF ROOT BEER EXTRACT. 
MIX WELL & BOTTLE IMMEDIATELY. 
SHOULD BE READY TO USE IN 2-3 DAYS.
CAN USE REGULAR BREAD YEAST.
 

Root Beer Baked Beans
a quick recipe

2 slices Bacon -- diced
1 small Onion -- diced
36 ounces Baked beans (canned)
1/2 cup Root beer (not diet)
1/4 cup Barbecue sauce
1/2 teaspoon Dry mustard
drop Hot pepper sauce, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper -to taste

Cook bacon with onion in saucepan until bacon is brown and crisp. Add remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, stir ring often, until slightly thickened, about 20 mins.
Prep time: 5 mins. Cooking time: 25 mins.
